When Faced with a Hobson’s Choice, Everyone Loses

Posted on April 9, 2007. Filed under: Personal Blog |

After half an hour of driving down one of the worst dirt roads in America and nearly getting stuck in the mud – twice – we got to the Grand Canyon. But before we got to the edge, we turned back. None of us ever saw the Grand Canyon that time.

Sure, we saw a family of yuppies decend from their private helicopter in their best Polo outfits, superflous sweater ’round their neck just like they’re Carlton from Fresh Prince. But my parents and I never saw the Grand Canyon. That was two years ago. Here’s a story of someone who went to the same spot and rather than turning away decided to pay the exorbatant fees. It turns out that when faced with a Hobson’s Choice, everyone loses.
